Objective
The objective is to develop an e-commerce portal for a smooth and hassle-free shopping experience.
Client requirements included:
- Review system
- Banner & logo design
- Complete content management system
- Registration/login module
- Geo-location services
Challenges
The project was executed relatively easily, but offered a few interesting challenges.
Balancing between user-interface, functionalities and coding-complexity was challenging as requirements evolved as the project progressed.
The platform required an option of zero inventory purchase... and an interface in which same category items but different capacity appear in the same drop down tab.
The solution also required geo-location services which helps in optimizing contextual search results.
Approach
Initial phase entailed a lot of effort in finalizing the Information Architecture of the platform, as the requirements and business logic need to be clearly defined.
Once the IA was approved, design team started hashing out the designs while simultaneously the development team started working on the core skeleton of the website. QA team was engaged during the design phase itself to help review designs and understand use cases.
Outcome
The corporate website was developed and delivered within few weeks of inception.
The e-commerce portal has received exceptional feedback for its user friendly interface and has been tagged as “one-stop shop for all your needs” by the audience.
